Can that Slithering Len Brown creature do anything right?

Has that soppy creature Leonard Brown learned anything from his endless Mayoral mistakes? Roads are still clogged with frustrated motorists, public transport remains shambolic, underground electricity cabling is being installed yet pavements remain squalid and uneven, rates continue to rise unfairly for everyone. Auckland is a diabolical experiment of an universal order, which has provided nothing but mediocrity for the masses.

Public transport was a hot issue. Conservative leader Colin Craig wanted to hear the local people's ideas in combating traffic. John Banks and Leonard Brown whipped up a typical "buy votes" politician answer, assuring concerned motorists improvements would be made. Alas, it was not to be. Auckland, for all the road projects which endlessly take place have not solved anything. Traffic flow has progressively gotten worse, with off ramps clogging up back roads with a foolish "one light per green"
system being one of the worst contributors. It isn't difficult for workers on road projects to be deployed during a time when congestion isn't suffocating everyone. Public transport hasn't yet been addressed and rather than seeking realistic goals, Mr. Brown holds the view trains will address the problem. As passionate as he may be, it remains a sturdy pipe dream. Upgrading access to Buses and making each ride more affordable will help deter people from commuting, restore their faith in public transport. Maybe the current situation with soaring petrol prices may push people enough to move towards using buses.

Strange that underground electricity cabling work can be underway, yet pavements cannot be fixed. Walkers, runners, cyclists, mothers with prams, all sorts continually vent frustration towards the inferior pavements Auckland possesses. One of the most livable cities nothing. Rather than address the basic problems with the city, the mush head creature of a Mayor prefers to appear sophisticated by introducing work which merely makes workers look busy. A cities greatest pride should be a clean, modern appearance, safe as well as secure. Auckland hasn't been rattled by any serious earthquakes at all within recent times, so why give everyone else such an impression to the world? Every single day people are trying to exercise and yet the mediocre sidewalks the Brown creature provides provide an ample training ground for cuts, grazes and scratches. Does fixing pavements cost a lot or consume a large amount of time? Absolutely not. Certainly not as long as those lazy workers are taking on the installment of the electricity grids. Ultimately, it comes down to a matter or priority. If Leonard thinks sidewalks are irrelevant, that all people are as lazy and incompetent as him, by all means continue squandering ever increasing rates income on expensive, time consuming projects. Or, attempt listening to all the concerned users of the sidewalk so that injuries from tripping over dodgy surface designs is reduced.

The slimy creature Leonard Brown will be unlikely to see another term in office. Hopefully people know now that if you Vote Brown you get a mouthful of risible excuses.

Oh Stuart-- I almost feel sorry for Len! Get people that are on the dole to do this sort of work- give them credits for hours achieved and skills gained- then they will feel better about themselves and have a useful skill at the end of it!

It is very easy to find things to criticize others about. I challenge you to write a blog or two about how each individual can do things in their day to day lives to make a positive difference in their communities. There are many good people and organisations and we do not hear enough about - why not write about some of them.

To blogger Nicky, I wish Mr. Brown had the smarts to think like you do. I part ways with you in sympathy though. With all the trust Len Brown has been given he has done nothing to help Auckland locals and in fact made things far worse.

To blogger Di, yes it is. There seems to be no other way for Len Brown to learn because he clearly isn't learning from his mistakes. No rational thinker would put more emphasis on Trains than Buses in Auckland. Yet Mr. Brown does. We were promised rates would never go up more than 10% in a year. Another broken Brown promise. This is a news blog which is after the cold hard truth. If you find out the name of one, I'm more than happy to write about them.

"there seems to be no other way for Len Brown to learn"??? len browns not gonna read this post dude. dont make excuses, this is just you having a bitch online about somthing you dont like. do people in your life not listen to you man? maybe if you had more positive input they would, i dunno. have you read your posts? theyr so degrading, to so many people. people different from you? thats no excuse to be an absolute dick. rule of life #1 dont be a dick. i havnt read any posts by len brown about why he hates stuart macadam. and on a side note, the auckland transport system is fucked beyond belife, in total agreement. however as someone who lives out west and uses the public transport everyday i can say len has the right idea focusing more on the trains than the buses, the buses are what makes the whole system so unbearable. and thats because theres so many of them going so many different places they end up blocking up the roads and making each other exeptionally late and causing mass traffic congestion. the trains really are getting the upgrade they desperately need and its going to make them alot cheaper to run, higher passenger capacity, faster operating speeds and cleaner for our city than the ones we use now.

I know lots and lots of good organisations and people. The point here is to challenge you to try and look for them yourself. Poor journalism only looks for the negative to call newsworthy. The positive people who want to make a practical difference in the world will not read the negative, because they are too busy 'doing' the positive.

It is easy for people who have never done anything positive themselves and never been in a position of a coach or manager or team leader or business owner or a member of a committee or manager of a company to find the negative about those who are (not saying you haven't), but it is only when you are in those positions and have the responsibility and have to make decisions based on many factors and are taking all the risk, that the critics are not aware of, that you can really realise how difficult the job is.
I am the first one to challenge things that I believe are not right, so I am not saying you should not challenge the establishment, but maybe your blogs should be a bit more balanced otherwise people will right you off as being just another negative ranter or worse and simply stop reading them.

There is a lot of negatives in all the papers so we don't need to read another one. Put some positive articles together and you will attract another whole group of 'positive' readers.

Blogger Leon and Di write "Poor journalism only looks for the negative to call newsworthy." I have looked long and hard for Leonard Brown's positives but cannot find any. It will be a happy day when he leaves office. He has had experience being a Mayor and making big decisions. They write further it is only when you "have the responsibility and have to make decisions based on many factors and are taking all the risk, that the critics are not aware of, that you can really realise how difficult the job is." Some people believe that because I take have a certain point of view I only see through one eye, which simply doesn't happen. Being a Mayor is a big responsibility so it needs to be in the hands of someone we can trust and that someone certainly isn't Leonard Brown.

As for the last little be more positive piece, the topics on this blog are written to be contentious.

I dot like this post at all! It's is very rude, it's implying you have a lack of respect, say your points yes , but don't drag him through the dirt by using such dreadful terms. Your name calling over powered the problems at hand

Blogger Kierohn writes that the post is "implying you have a lack of respect." He continues "don't drag him through the dirt by using such dreadful terms." You must realise first that I'm using sarcasm as a challenge to Mr. Brown to prove me wrong because right now, this is how I see him. In this post, Mr. Brown has been reduced to a "slithering creature" because he sleekly finds ways out of situations and can't quite be as quick as a snake to evade being caught, hence the creature part. He is a soppy person as shown by his interviews and his idealism is too far. Blogger Kierohn then says "your name calling overpowered the problems at hand." Did it? In what way? Does calling someone an idiot make them one? of course not. It's an opinion. I believe I addressed the points quite clearly and given reasons why it should never have been that way and how it can be fixed. If you believe a bit of sarcasm killed the whole conversation, you're more than welcome to do so.

The bohemian anonymous writes "len browns not gonna read this post dude." How do you know? Are you his secretary or personal assistant? He can read what he likes. A search of "Auckland super city super disaster" brings up a top five page find. Mr. Brown says he wants to improve the city so what better way to do it than read his critics analysis of his performance and prove them wrong. I'm not sorry either for breaking your glass heart into a million pieces. If you can't handle intellectual debate, then don't joins; don't throw ad hominem arguments forth. This piffle of "i havnt read any posts by len brown about why he hates stuart macadam" cements it. When you finally do address one of the post's topics you argue yourself into a corner. "buses are what makes the whole system so unbearable." "they end up blocking up the roads and making each other exeptionally late and causing mass traffic congestion." If you are to commute into work on a typical weekday, how man buses do you see on the road? What about the roads around Albany? Would be very generous to say 1 in 25. Increase bus numbers in each suburb by just one, campaign a bit about encouraging people to use public transport and that may be ten less cars (which are the actual cause of this mass congestion) in each suburb. I never said trains didn't need to be upgraded as you assume smugly. Giving trains priority over buses cannot be maintainable, nor does Auckland have the capacity to have a full city rail system.
